The Essential Guide for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents

Emotionally immature parents (EI) are
frustrating and demoralizing. It’s hard to love
an emotionally stuck parent who expects honor
and special treatment but tries to control and
reject you at the same time.
The relationship with the EI parent is
characterized by non-satisfaction of their
emotional needs. They are little interested in
experiencing emotional intimacy in which two
people meet and understand each other on a
deeper level. This mutual exchange of deeper
feelings creates a deep and satisfying bond that
makes participants valuable to each other, but
this is not something EI parents are comfortable
with.
Sometimes you glimpse in them a fleeting desire
for a real relationship, and this allows you to get
closer to them. Unfortunately, the closer you
get, the further they move away, wary of real

emotional limitations and creates a more
