About the Unit
Data, Policy, and Innovation Centre (DPIC) is a 5-year strategic partnership between Government of Odisha (GoOdisha)
and University of Chicago Trust, India. The Centre, funded by the GoOdisha will enable rigorous, evidence-based
governance, using new advances in econometrics, data-science, and machine learning. In addition, the Centre will create
a of hub for modern data analysis that will focus on the use of data to improve decision-making process in the state of
Odisha and increase the data capabilities of GoOdisha officials.
Position Description
University of Chicago Trust DPIC India is seeking a full-time Data Analyst who will be responsible for analyzing large
administrative datasets, extract meaningful statistics and analytical insights, and communicate them through visually
compelling infographics. The candidate’s work will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights for
evidence-based decision making in the state of Odisha.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis: Apply advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyse large and complex
datasets, extract meaningful statistics, and identify relevant trends and patterns.
Data Quality Assurance: Conduct data cleaning and validation to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
Apply quality control measures to improve data quality and resolve any discrepancies or anomalies.
Data Visualization: Present data and analysis through clear and appealing data visualizations, and dashboards to
facilitate understanding and decision-making by stakeholders.
Report Writing: Craft clear messages and support publication of policy briefs, blogs
Collaborate effectively with researchers, government officials, team members and other stakeholders
Any other task assigned by the line manager and/or the senior management of DPIC
Ethical Data Handling: Ensure compliance with data user agreements and guidelines, safeguarding the privacy and
confidentiality of sensitive data throughout the data lifecycle.

Education
A master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computational Analysis or related field
Experience
